DESIGNED WITH THE WORKING ADULT IN MIND
- All our graduates are eligible to apply to the California State Board of Pharmacy for licensure.
- Students are strongly encouraged to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (pass rate SRJC, 100%, national, 73%)
- 82% of our graduates are employed as pharmacy technicians; 10% of our graduates pursue higher education (pharmacists, research etc.).
- The job market in Sonoma and other counties is growing rapidly. Many students find employment during or right after their clinical preceptorships. SRJC students get hiring priority over other schools due to the quality of education provided here.
About
The Pharmacy Technician Program at SRJC was established in 2001. Developed from an identified community need, this program maintains a high standard of health-care education. It is a Regional program and we service students from many counties in Northern California. The open access policy with no application process is designed for student convenience. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the educational requirements for an AA/AS degree while building priority registration.
We are committed to preparing our graduates for jobs in retail/hospital based pharmacy, research, and also for their next level of education.
The Pharmacy Technician Program is available as a Career Certificate (19.5 Units) and as an Associate in Science Pharmacy Technician Major. To earn an AA/AS degree, a student needs to complete 60 units (degree applicable courses are numbered 1-299), a general education pattern (Option A, B, or C) and Pharm Tech major courses (19.5 units). Contact the counseling office for additional AA/AS degree requirements.
Counseling Services: (707) 527-4451
Both programs will prepare students to be registered Pharmacy Technicians and for employment in various pharmacy settings. The program will help students meet the IV Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Technician requirement with the completion of Pharmacy 157 and 157 L Clinical.
